How the Custom Order Process Works
Ordering a custom Defender is straightforward and transparent at Land Rover Freeport:
1. Configuration: You work with a Brand Specialist to build your exact Defender, selecting engine, trim, paint, and accessory packs.
2. Deposit & Allocation: You place a refundable deposit. We match your build to our dealership’s factory allocation slots.
3. Production Tracking: Once the factory accepts the order, you will receive updates as your vehicle is built and shipped across the ocean.
4. Delivery: Your Defender arrives in Freeport. We prepare it, install any final accessories, and hand over the keys.
Understanding Factory Allocations in New York

What is an Allocation?
Every month, the factory awards Land Rover Freeport a specific number of “build slots” based on our high sales volume. When you order, your vehicle is assigned to one of these slots. Because of our strong presence on Long Island, we frequently receive robust allocations, shortening your wait time.
The Lock Date
After you place your order, there is a small window where you can still change paint colors or add options. This ends at the “Lock Date.” After this point, the factory begins sourcing the specific components for your unique build, and changes can no longer be made.
